The SA Climate Leaders Awards recognise the achievements of individuals and organisations who take action to address climate change in South Australia.
More than 40 award entries were received for the inaugural awards in 2016 representing a wide array of industries and sectors, including adaptation pioneers, the wine industry, community organisations and more.
The winners of the awards were announced at an event on 28 November 2016.
Port Lincoln business Regional Connections was named overall winner of the awards and winner of the Industry and Business category for their work with farm advisers to engage with more than 600 broadacre farmers about the effects of emissions from farming, and how they could incorporate carbon farming technologies into their operations.
Other winners included Cecilia Woolford (Individual category) for her work pioneering regional climate change adaptation and action, and Uniting Communities (Community and Regions category) for their commitment to becoming certified carbon neutral, encouraging behavioural change in their organisation and in the broader community.
